A New Kasem Dictionary

what we changed about the old kasem dictionary.

Indigen World ·
A New Kasem Dictionary

The Kasem Dictionary now looks like the rest of Indigen World. Same reviewed words, same search, same saved list, in the deep navy and electric blue of indigenworld.com.

ShippedLive now at kasem-dictionary.web.app, on desktop and on phones. Nothing to install and nothing to update.

What changed

Until today the dictionary wore the older gold-and-cream palette, while the website had moved on. Opening one from the other felt like switching products. The dictionary now shares the website's visual language:

  • A floating glass header over a deep blue masthead, the same one you see on the indigenworld.com homepage.
  • A search field that sits in the masthead, so the first thing on the page is the thing you came to do.
  • White word cards on a soft blue-white ground, with the selected word outlined in blue.
  • Entry pages with clearer section labels for pronunciation, examples, usage and source.

Looking up a word

Type a Kasem or an English word into the search field. Results narrow as you type, and you can also browse by first letter, including Ɔ. Pick a word to see its meaning, pronunciation, an example in context and where the entry came from.

TipTap Save on any entry to keep it in your saved list. Saved words stay on your device, so you do not need an account.

What stays the same

This release is about how the dictionary looks, not what it contains. The dictionary still shows only entries that have been reviewed and published. There were 329 of them when this post was written, and the list updates live as more are approved.

NoteWhere an entry has a pronunciation recording, a player appears under its pronunciation so you can hear the word.

Try it

Open the Kasem Dictionary and search for a word you know. If an entry looks wrong or a word is missing, tell us through the contact page on indigenworld.com so it can be checked.
